Unit Head Of Data Science

OBJECTIVES

Manage the   Data Science Unit to  design, prototype, and build models – which act as engines for all the use cases as well as maintains models including updates on monthly basis to support use cases.

COMMUNICATION

• Internal: all departments

- Testing prototypes & gathering high-level input for model design with related department

- Coordinates with enabling function to ensure Data Science runs smoothly 

• External: vendors/ outstaffs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Day-To-Day Activities

-  Lead execution of overall departmental strategy in Data Science Unit for designing end-to-end analytics models

- Lead the ideation &  ensure that these models create value for business units

- Mentor and help develop technical competency of assigned team members. Define complex technical design/requirements for data reporting and analysis projects

- Be responsible for  implementing and deploying scalable solutions; maintains models

- Undertake other tasks assigned by Head of Advanced Analytics Department.

2. Planning / Budgeting

- Support Head of AA Department in annual planning/budgeting for the unit

- Provide action plan to implement aligned with the overall strategy and agenda of the AA Department in term of Data Science 

3. People Management

- Provide the team management with respect to their work, training, satisfaction level and technical/functional skills enhancement
- Enable separate teams for the functional specialization of the unit
- Be in charge of training & retaining high quality analytics talent and ensuring sustainable growth of the unit

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in  quantitative field (Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Sciences, Finance)
- Master’s degree in business/economics is a plus
- 3 years’ experience in a statistical and/or data science role
- Project management experience of leading medium sized analytics team and created positive value through analytics
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communications skills
- Team oriented, goals oriented, and flexible with proven track record in collaborating with multiple stakeholders and result delivery
- Expert understanding of lending & cards business
- Expert in business reporting & financial modeling
- Expert in translating business cases to technical
- Deep knowledge of machine learning, statistics, optimization or related fields
- Extensive experience with  SAS, Matlab, Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, Arena, Alteryx and SQL 
- Language proficient in one of: R, Python
